Newcastle Central MP Chi Onwurah has led the calls to protect the iconic structure so that it can keep swinging for decades to come and is now pushing for it to be fixed in time for its 150th anniversary in 2026\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>The grade II* listed crossing\u2026 enthusiasts were left disappointed during a maritime festival in summer 2021 when an attempt to have it rotate resulted in the bridge jamming shut.
