{"id":37270,"date":"2023-08-11T17:54:53","date_gmt":"2023-08-11T16:54:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=37270"},"modified":"2023-08-11T17:58:44","modified_gmt":"2023-08-11T16:58:44","slug":"ihbcs-se-branch-pilots-listening-to-local-members-on-ihbcpetitionforcharter-with-practice-cpd-charter-presentation-focus-groups-and-funding-support-for-branch-initiati","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=37270","title":{"rendered":"IHBC\u2019s SE Branch pilots \u2018listening\u2019 to local members on #IHBCPetitionforCharter, with practice CPD, charter presentation &#038; focus groups, and funding support for Branch initiatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-37271\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/ihbc_se_LOGO.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"140\" \/>The IHBC\u2019s South East (SE) Branch has piloted an event to encourage members and stakeholders to \u2018Have your Say\u2019 &#8211; with topical CPD followed by a presentation &amp; focus groups on petitioning \u2013 while the <a href=\"https:\/\/petitionforcharter.ihbc.org.uk\/\">IHBC Petition for Charter<\/a> web resource offers funds for Branch events.<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-36510 aligncenter\" style=\"font-size: 16px;\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/IHBC_Charter_Petition-300x40.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"40\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 Funding is available for Branch events\u2026. on the #IHBCPetitionforCharter\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018We\u2019re delighted our SE Branch has led the way here, exploring a model Branch event to gather and inform members, and to raise awareness and understanding of the IHBC\u2019s exploration of a petition for charter.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Funding is available for Branch events that include engagement with members on the #IHBCPetitionforCharter discussions on our dedicated web site <a href=\"https:\/\/petitionforcharter.ihbc.org.uk\/\">HERE<\/a>.\u00a0 And if you\u2019d like to find out more detail please contact the IHBC\u2019s National Office or Jude Wheeler \u2013 who\u2019s leading Branch and volunteer support on this, at support@ihbc.org.uk\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Brown, IHBC President said, \u2018Many thanks to all the Branches thus far who have invited David McDonald, Lone Le Vay and myself to attend their meetings and present the issues relating to the Petiton for Charter.\u00a0 It\u2019s been great to talk to you all and hear your ideas.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The workshop format used by South East branch was particularly useful and stimulating.\u00a0 Thus far the reaction to the idea has been positive but, clearly we have a long way to go before we can be confident of its success.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So, may I once again appeal to our various Branches across the UK to send us an invitation to your next meeting so that we can have a proper debate on this, a key issue relating to the IHBC\u2019s future.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Lone Le Vay, Branch Treasurer and IHBC Vice Chair \u00a0said: \u2018I was very encouraged by our Petition for Charter event. It prompted some engaging discussion which will help guide the Institute in its ongoing work on potential chartership of our Institute.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Hopefully the format &#8211; based on a series of focus group discussions reporting back to the whole meeting &#8211; will provide a useful model to help other Branches to engage with the consultation process.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Jude Wheeler, Branch Liaison &amp; Volunteer Support Officer, said: \u2018I was heartened by the depth of engagement of IHBC members who attended this in-person consultation arranged by the South East Branch.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018After an opening CPD presentation by IHBC Trustee and South-East Branch Chair Jo Saady, on &#8216;Real life cases of Retrofit\u2019, an introduction to IHBC petitioning and chartering by the IHBC President followed.\u00a0 Thls spurred dynamic sector group discussions focussed on five areas with issues expertly informed \u2013 where possible &#8211; by officers, following which the meeting noted its enthusiasm for the initiative.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I would like to thank the South East Branch for inviting me to the event.\u00a0 This helps me advise any IHBC Branches or volunteer initiatives on planning future <em>#IHBCpetitionforcharter explorations, <\/em>including applications for funding<em>.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>IHBC SE Branch writes:<\/p>\n<p>Programme:<\/p>\n<p>16:30 &#8211; 16:45:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Welcome and Refreshments<\/p>\n<p>16:45 &#8211; 17:15: \u00a0\u00a0 &#8216;Real life cases of Retrofit in Heritage Buildings&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>17:15 &#8211; 17:35: \u00a0\u00a0 Introduction to IHBC&#8217;s proposal to petition for a Royal Charter<\/p>\n<p>17:35 &#8211; 18:00: \u00a0\u00a0 Focus group discussions on Charter proposals<\/p>\n<p>18:00 &#8211; 18:30:\u00a0 \u00a0Focus Group report back and General Q&amp;A Session<\/p>\n<p>18:30: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Finish and adjournment to local hostelry for networking<\/p>\n<p>Heather Hall, IHBC SE Branch Secretary, writes:<\/p>\n<p>\u2026Those booking places will be asked in indicate their preferred focus group as listed below.
