{"id":3703,"date":"2012-02-10T16:26:56","date_gmt":"2012-02-10T16:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=3703"},"modified":"2012-02-10T16:26:56","modified_gmt":"2012-02-10T16:26:56","slug":"millions-for-eco-friendly-homes-in-scotland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=3703","title":{"rendered":"Millions for eco-friendly homes in Scotland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">An additional \u00a387 million will be invested in affordable and energy efficient homes to support jobs in the construction industry, Housing Minister Keith Brown has announced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The funding was outlined in the Scottish Parliament by Finance Secretary John Swinney, and will be split as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a342 million will expand shared equity schemes and the Housing Infrastructure Loan Fund over the spending review period. This also includes \u00a310 million for a new Greener Housing Innovation Scheme aimed at encouraging councils and housing associations to build greener homes using modern, more efficient and, environmentally friendly technology. Also included is around \u00a35m to support connecting fuel poor communities to the gas grid taking up an early proposal made through the Scottish Fuel Poverty Forum\u2019s review of Fuel Poverty Strategy.<\/li>\n<li>An additional \u00a345 million for the Government\u2019s affordable housing budget over the period 2012-13 to 2014-15, which will support affordable housing supply across Scotland.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Welcoming the funding, which is additional capital resources for 2012-2015, Mr Brown said: \u2018Despite the severe constraints on our budget imposed by the UK Government, the supply of new affordable housing that is energy efficient for householders, has always been a high priority for the Scottish Government.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018This funding package includes a strong focus on enhancing our energy efficiency agenda within housing supply.
