We already represent many IHBC members with their insurances, and together with our commitment to professionalism, meant that sponsorship of this event was an easy choice.\u2019<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 informal reports\u2026especially for in person delegates&#8230;.very positive&#8230;<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018With feedback still being gathered, informal reports on the value and experience of the School programme, especially for in person delegates, has been very positive.\u00a0 In particular the diverse locally-led tours and visits made the most of the on-site learning opportunities.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Unlike the \u2018hybrid\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/aberdeen2022.ihbc.org.uk\/\">2022 Aberdeen School<\/a>, the 2023 Day School was \u2018livestreamed\u2019, with both being experimental adaptations for our post-pandemic, climate-challenged world.\u00a0 We will look carefully at the specific strengths of each approach as regards our members\u2019 learning needs and priorities. That will inform how we will plan and deliver the 2024 School and supporting <a href=\"https:\/\/marketplace.ihbc.org.uk\/live\/\">MarketPlace:LIVE<\/a> from Reading, from 19-22 June next year, and hosted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/branches\/south\/index.html\">IHBC\u2019s South Branch<\/a>.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So for anyone attending, please be sure to fill in the feedback survey as that\u2019s the best way to help us make 2024, in Reading, even better!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>IHBC writes:<\/p>\n<p>All involved are thanked for their generous contributions.\u00a0 These include local-lead Moira Lucas who offered numerous special and practical insights in her tours, and Swansea School Committee lead John Edwards &#8211; ably supported by his team of volunteers \u2013 who also took on the role of tour lead for both Thursday and Saturday.\u00a0 Both our thanks and our debt to all involved in the programme \u2013 volunteers, consultants, staff and delegates &#8211; are substantial and heartfelt!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-36891\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_1537-300x187.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Reception Sponsors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penderyn.wales\">Penderyn Distillery<\/a> were big-hearted hosts in welcoming School delegates to their new distillery at the Hafod-Morfa Copperworks, site of the world\u2019s largest copperworks in the late 19th century.\u00a0 Penderyn Distillery have distilleries, in the village of Penderyn, South Wales; in Llandudno, North Wales, and now this new distillery in Swansea which will open to the public soon.\u00a0 Thursday reception delegate tours of the new distillery, as a \u2018conservation project in action\u2019 highlighting the building\u2019s conservation and conversion, concluded in whiskey and gin tastings generously provided by Penderyn.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-36894\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/AS2023DaySchool-300x174.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"174\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwtsd.ac.uk\/\">The University of Wales Trinity St David<\/a> (UWTSD) generously provided accommodation for the Day School &amp; Annual Dinner alongside some tremendous support in delivering the Day School.<\/p>\n<p>The Annual Dinner itself marked a welcome, post-Covid return to our pre-pandemic model of formal dinner, School networking and awards presentations.\u00a0 This year again both the <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.org.uk\/gasa\/#:~:text=The%20Annual%20IHBC%20Gus%20Astley,graduate%20or%20post%2Dgraduate%20courses.\">IHBC\u2019s Gus Astley Annual Student Awards<\/a> programme and the <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.org.uk\/marshawards\/\">IHBC Marsh Awards<\/a> were represented, with judges and winners all thanked and applauded.\u00a0 Both awards programmes continue to be underpinned by the IHBC\u2019s own <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.org.uk\/resources_head\/creative_conservation_fund\/index.html\">CREATIVE Conservation Fund<\/a>, which helps fund School delegate bursaries among a range of the IHBC\u2019s dedicated charitable ventures.<\/p>\n<p>In Swansea, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lime.org.uk\/\">Ty Mawr lime<\/a> was also welcomed to the Day School where its representatives showcased a range of environmentally-friendly building materials and systems linked to the theme of the School<a href=\"https:\/\/swansea2023.ihbc.org.uk\/\"> Climate Change and the Historic Environment;
