\"\"IHBC\u2019s Education Secretary Chris Wood has welcomed the formal opening of The National Trust\u2019s new Heritage and Rural Skills Centre<\/a> by Lord Parkinson, England\\s Minister of State for the Arts and Heritage, on 19 May.<\/h3>\n

\u2026 opening is the culmination of 6 years of planning and hard-work\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n

Chris Wood said: \u2018I was delighted to attend the opening by Lord Parkinson of this exciting new initiative by the National Trust.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018The Centre utilises a number of former historic farm buildings at its Coleshill Estate in South Oxfordshire and its opening is the culmination of 6 years of planning and hard-work.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018The Centre already hosts specialist lime and plastering courses run by SPAB & the Worshipful Company of Plaisterers, but these have now outgrown their studio and been moved to more spacious workshops in the historic cattle pens\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018The Trust\u2019s ambitious plan is to offer courses and training of various lengths to appeal to contractors, professionals, NT staff, members of the public and schools.\u00a0 The current programme offers training in blacksmithing, lime work, stone and wood carving, basket making and weaving.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018A dedicated website has been set up to provide information on forthcoming courses and relevant information.\u2019<\/p>\n
