\u2026 Contractors fenced off public areas and felled the trees on Tuesday night as part of a \u00a312.7m regeneration project before an injunction stopped work.<\/p>\n

The Green Party said councillors were given no time to scrutinise the executive decision ordered by Mr Bingley, the Conservative leader\u2026<\/p>\n

Campaign group Save the Trees of Armada Way (Straw) said it had applied for a judicial review into the decision to fell the trees\u2026<\/p>\n

Adam Cormack, head of campaigning at the Woodland Trust, told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, it was \u2018not always easy\u2019 to retain trees in a redevelopment.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut there are some really good examples around the country of where mature trees are retained and they can have a very transformative impact on the look and experience,\u201d he said\u2026<\/p>\n
