{"id":35795,"date":"2023-03-07T16:05:58","date_gmt":"2023-03-07T16:05:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=35795"},"modified":"2023-03-04T18:29:14","modified_gmt":"2023-03-04T18:29:14","slug":"priority-places-and-levelling-up-for-culture-places","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=35795","title":{"rendered":"Priority Places and Levelling Up for Culture Places"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"field__item\">\n<div class=\"could-be-constrained-width rich-text\">\n<div class=\"text-long u-max-w-measure-xl u-leading-normal u-o-3\">\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-35405\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Levelling_up_Open_Government_Licence_v3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"155\" \/>Arts Council England outlines how it sees villages, towns and cities across the country thriving through a collaborative approach to culture.<\/h3>\n<h6><em>image for illustration: Open Government Licence v3.0<\/em><\/h6>\n<h3><!--more--><\/h3>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 we have worked with\u2026.(DCMS) to identify 109 local authority areas, all outside of Greater London\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Arts Council England writes:<\/p>\n<p>We know that historically our investment in some areas of England has been too low, so we\u2019ve set out lists of Levelling Up for Culture Places and Priority Places that we\u2019ll prioritise working with.<\/p>\n<p>Below you can find out how we\u2019ll work with them, the differences between them, and how we selected the\u00a0places.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"priority-places-2021-24\">Priority Places\u00a02021-24<\/h2>\n<p><strong>What are\u00a0they?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of our\u00a0Delivery Plan for 2021-24, we identified 54 places across England in which our investment and engagement is too low, and opportunity for us to effectively increase investment and engagement is high \u2013 and so we\u2019re prioritising working with them from 2021 to 2024.<\/p>\n<p>In every one of our Priority Places we will work with local stakeholders to set bespoke objectives, hold ourselves accountable for increasing staff time and investment across a range of funds, and track the impact of our investment.<\/p>\n<p>All of our Priority Places outside of London are also found on the list of Levelling Up for Culture Places (below). We remain committed to increasing staff time and investment in our Priority Places within London. When considering our National Portfolio and Investment Principles Support Organisations (NPOs and IPSOs) investment in London, for example, we\u2019ll take into account applications that relate to organisations and activity in the five London Priority Places&#8230;.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 1.2em;\">Levelling Up for Culture Places 2022-26<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"field__item\">\n<div class=\"could-be-constrained-width rich-text\">\n<div class=\"text-long u-max-w-measure-xl u-leading-normal u-o-3\">\n<p><strong>What are\u00a0they?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In its\u00a0Levelling Up White Paper, the government commits to:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIdentifying over 100 levelling up priority places outside of London that will be the focus for additional Arts Council England engagement and\u00a0investment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To deliver this commitment, we have worked with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to identify 109 local authority areas, all outside of Greater London. We are calling these\u00a0Levelling Up for Culture Places.<\/p>\n<p>As set out by the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media &amp; Sport, all of the \u00a343.5 million of additional investment we\u2019ll receive from the Government for the period 2022-25 will benefit creativity and culture outside of London, and where possible in a way that benefits the 109 Levelling Up for Culture Places.<\/p>\n<p>In our\u00a02023-26 Investment Programme, Levelling Up for Culture Places will be added to our balancing criteria.
