{"id":35683,"date":"2023-02-21T17:00:27","date_gmt":"2023-02-21T17:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=35683"},"modified":"2023-02-21T17:00:27","modified_gmt":"2023-02-21T17:00:27","slug":"ihbc-welcomes-rebecca-thompsons-eoi-for-vice-president-as-council-re-scheduled-to-march-agm-set-for-3-may-and-first-call-for-next-trustees-issued-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=35683","title":{"rendered":"IHBC welcomes Rebecca Thompson\u2019s EoI for Vice President, as Council re-scheduled to March, AGM set for 3 May, and first call for next trustees issued"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-27271\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IHBC-logo-no-words-purple-MASTER.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"109\" \/>IHBC-accredited Rebecca Thompson, Senior Estate Manager at English Heritage, past President of the CIOB, and Yorkshire Branch Committee member, has had her Expression of Interest in the role of IHBC Vice President &#8211; and Council Vice Chair &#8211; formally welcomed by the IHBC\u2019s Board.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>IHBC\u2019s Chair, David McDonald, and President, Mike Brown, said: \u2018We were delighted to hear of Rebecca\u2019s interest in this senior role on the IHBC.\u00a0 Her huge experience as a conservation practitioner, heritage ambassador and energetic volunteer will add substantial capacity to our operations.\u00a0 Accordingly, the Board enthusiastically welcomed her nomination at its meeting in December\u2019.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 Rebecca\u2019s name will now go forward for election to the post at the next Council\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>\u2018Many will know too that we are continuing to look at a charter petition for the IHBC in line with plans agreed at our 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM), and she has already been helping advise us on modernising our governance in line with those standards.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Rebecca\u2019s name will now go forward for election to the post at the next Council, now re-scheduled to late March, likely tied to celebrations to mark the end of 25th anniversary programme, #IHBC25.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Elections under our new Articles will continue after March with the IHBC\u2019s 2023 AGM, planned for 3 May, which will be online.\u00a0 If you are interested in adding your skills to our Board please check out our web guidance on the roles [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/aboutmain\/governance\/index.html\">HERE<\/a>] and get in touch with either trustees you know, with IHBC Secretary Jo Evans [at <a href=\"mailto:ihbcsecretary@ihbc.org.uk\">ihbcsecretary@ihbc.org.uk<\/a>] or IHBC Administrator and Company Secretary Lydia Porter [at <a href=\"mailto:admin@ihbc.org.uk\">admin@ihbc.org.uk<\/a>].\u2019<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026encourage nominations\u2026.that will address the imbalances you see in the infrastructure of the IHBC\u2019s governance\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018Detailed calls for our next trustees will be coming out on our NewsBlog service in the coming weeks, so be sure to keep an eye on this.\u00a0 If that role is not for you, do please encourage nominations from members you know that will address the imbalances you see in the infrastructure of the IHBC\u2019s governance.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/rebecca-thompson-91156616\/\">Rebecca Thompson<\/a> MA, BSc(hons), FCIOB, IHBC, MQSi(Hon) writes in support of her EoI:<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 I am an ambassador for IHBC\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>I am an accredited Member of the IHBC and bring with me a passion for heritage and our built environment, a wide network with diverse stakeholders and experience in a Vice President and Presidential role.\u00a0 I operate across a diverse area of the heritage, conservation and construction sectors.\u00a0 English Heritage are a partner with CIOB to deliver the annual Heritage Conference of which I am an active committee member, event chair and speaker.<\/p>\n<p>I would support the President in Council meetings and operations.\u00a0 I am currently on the committee for York Consortium for Craft and Conservation, I chair the Environment and Sustainability Committee for the Merchant Adventurers of the City of York and sit as a member of the Council (this post ends in March 2023).
