The Scottish Civic Trust writes:<\/p>\n

The Scottish Civic Trust today announced the appointment of Joe Traynor as its new Director, replacing Dr Susan O\u2019Connor.<\/p>\n

Joe studied at the Universities of Glasgow and Paisley before working in a number of heritage and culture roles for Creative Scotland, West Dunbartonshire Council and Historic Scotland. Most recently, Joe worked for Museums Galleries Scotland where he led on the development and delivery of Scotland\u2019s National Strategy for Museums.<\/p>\n

Joe is currently a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Manchester with a research focus on the evolution of the heritage sector. He is also a Trustee of the Culture, Animal and Active Trusts at the People\u2019s Postcode Lottery, a Trustee of Glasgow City Heritage Trust and a Community Councillor for the Springboig and Barlanark areas of Glasgow.<\/p>\n

Sue Evans, Chair of the Scottish Civic Trust, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the Trustees, I am delighted to welcome Joe to his new role as Director.\u00a0 Joe\u2019s understanding of the heritage sector, leadership skills and creativity will be crucial as we develop our new strategic plan. This will help us to work with stakeholders, funders and communities to deliver services and programmes going forward which ensure Scotland\u2019s heritage remains relevant, valued and safeguarded for future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joe Traynor, new Scottish Civic Trust Director, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI am honoured to be taking on the role of Director of the Scottish Civic Trust and am excited to be working with the talented staff and trustees to build on the Trust\u2019s current success for the benefit on Scotland\u2019s heritage and communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joe Traynor will be in post from 16 January 2023.<\/p>\n
