\u2026 a remarkable \u2013 and maybe even unequalled – historical resource\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n

IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018Context<\/em> originated as the \u2018Newsletter of the Association of Conservation Officers\u2019, under the Cornerstone banner, in February 1983.\u00a0 That issue, edited by John Fidler, encapsulated that most historic of moments with its splendid cartoon.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2026\u2018The Institute of Fun\u2019\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n

\u2018Context turned to colour in Spring 1989<\/a>, and welcomed the launch of the IHBC as \u2018The Institute of Fun\u2019 in its first issue as the voice of the Institute with the 53rd issue, in June 1997<\/a>!\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Covering both before and after the IHBC, the Context<\/em> archive serves as a remarkable \u2013 and maybe even unequalled – historical resource for the evolution of conservation planning in the UK.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Today the online archive continues to offers a no-less remarkable low-carbon, open access to that history.\u00a0 It is mostly \u2013 but, please remember, not entirely \u2013 searchable online now too, which makes quick research exercises across the more recent issues especially useful for busy practitioners and consultants… and NewsBlog authors!\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018As such, it’s just another remarkable jewel \u2013 and service – to be usefully reminded of in our #IHBC25.\u2019<\/p>\n
