\u2026 an exciting and inclusive city-wide programme\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n

Make it York writes:<\/p>\n

Trailblazers will be an exciting and inclusive city-wide programme of events and activities across 2023 \u2013 25, celebrating York\u2019s heritage. Shaped around significant anniversaries,\u00a0Trailblazers will\u00a0inspire residents and visitors on York\u2019s collective history and empower new generations\u00a0to create and discover new interpretations of our heritage.<\/p>\n

The activities funded by\u00a0The National Lottery\u00a0Heritage\u00a0Fund\u00a0will enable\u00a0York Civic Trust,\u00a0Make It York\u00a0and\u00a0partners\u00a0to\u00a0uncover lesser-known heritage stories\u00a0of York\u00a0through workshops, sculpture trail, community grant funding, partner events and marketing.<\/p>\n

York Civic Trust and\u00a0Make It York will develop and deliver the project together, leading on their areas of expertise within culture, community and heritage in York.\u00a0A mix of 40 organisations, from small voluntary groups to big institutions, supported\u00a0York Civic Trust and\u00a0Make It York\u2019s bid to make Trailblazers a reality. The project\u00a0is made possible by\u00a0The National Lottery Heritage Fund and National Lottery players.<\/p>\n

Andrew Morrison, Chief Executive Officer at York Civic Trust, said:\u00a0\u201cOur project York Trailblazers will be a fantastic opportunity for people to discover and celebrate the heritage stories of people who are important to their communities. The National Heritage Lottery Fund\u2019s support of our project is an incredible boost and will enable the project to reach out to all parts of the city.\u201d<\/p>\n

Helen Apsey, Head of Culture & Wellbeing at Make It York, said:\u00a0\u201cA huge thank you to\u00a0The National Lottery Heritage Fund and to all the organisations who have come together to support our bid \u2013 we\u2019re absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the funding for York Trailblazers. It will make such a\u00a0difference, and\u00a0enable Make It York and York Civic Trust to develop a\u00a0really meaningful\u00a0celebration of our history and heritage across 2023 \u2013 25, working\u00a0with partners across the city, and engaging with residents, schools and community groups. We\u2019ve got a lot of activity planned, so watch this space!\u201d<\/p>\n
