{"id":3450,"date":"2011-12-02T19:45:24","date_gmt":"2011-12-02T19:45:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=3450"},"modified":"2011-12-02T19:45:24","modified_gmt":"2011-12-02T19:45:24","slug":"ihbc-checking-claims-on-professional-status","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=3450","title":{"rendered":"IHBC: Checking claims on professional status"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"yui_3_2_0_1_1322836394455565\"><strong id=\"yui_3_2_0_1_1322836394455559\"><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The IHBC has started a new round scrutinising public statements about IHBC membership that may not properly reflect the professional status of a person or practice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Eddie Booth, IHBC secretary, said: \u2018Only current full professional members of the Institute are permitted to use the IHBC letters after their name in any form or to claim membership of IHBC in any professional context.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018In the interests of our members, and of the IHBC as the charity to which we subscribe, it is essential that we make sure that these terms are fully observed.\u00a0 Anyone whose publicity material incorrectly suggests professional membership of the IHBC, or corporate membership of our business listing, HESPR, will receive an initial request to correct the information.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We fully understand that members may overlook how some might interpret public references to their links to the IHBC, so we are putting out this initial alert.\u00a0 Genuine transgressors, however, will be pursued as far as necessary.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The IHBC letter states:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2018I appreciate that your mention of IHBC is not intended to deceive and is done with the intention of promoting your connections with the institute.\u00a0 But this may be seen to suggest that you have full professional membership of this institute. As an affiliate or associate you have not yet demonstrated your ability to meet the criteria for full membership.
