Travel across the UK may be required.\u00a0 The IHBC is a professional body but it is also a small charity that relies on a substantial body of voluntary support. Staff are expected to recognise this distinctive character of the IHBC in their personal work patterns and approaches to their roles.<\/p>\n<p>You will be line managed by the IHBC Director while also working closely with all the Institute\u2019s staff and elected officers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Outline details on the role<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Term: 1-year fixed term<\/li>\n<li>Hours: 2-3 days\/week<\/li>\n<li>Probation: 3 months from start.<\/li>\n<li>Fee: on a consultancy basis as c.\u00a3200\/day + expenses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Employment standards &amp; needs<\/strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u>The IHBC is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against employees based on age, race, colour, religion, origin, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or other legally protected characteristics.<\/p>\n<p>This policy is also enshrined in the IHBC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.org.uk\/resources\/A4-Code-of-Conduct.pdf\">Code of Conduct<\/a> which states that:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u2018Members shall not discriminate on the grounds of race, sex, creed, religion, disability or age in their professional activities and shall seek to eliminate such discrimination by others and to promote equality of opportunity.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>Work-base<\/strong><br \/>\nAgreed home or own office-based location<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expectations for performance:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Re-commence and extend the IHBC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=24699\">Local Delivery Training<\/a> pilot CPD programme for Branches.\u00a0 Local Delivery CPD topics currently include Engineering, Curtilage, Care &amp; retrofit.\u00a0 Prospective topics include Design in Heritage Contexts.<\/li>\n<li>Implement and manage a developing programme of IHBC-led events with online and in-person learning options offering building care and retrofit training in line with IHBC practice standards for sustainability, outlined <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.org.uk\/toolbox\/position_statement\/sustainablilityconservation.html\">HERE<\/a>, and for retrofitting, outlined <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.org.uk\/toolbox\/guidance_notes\/PDF\/Retrofitting%20in%20Traditional%20Buildings%20GN2022_2_v090322.pdf\">HERE<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Support IHBC interfaces with agreed existing and new training programmes in national heritage bodies across all Home Countries. See a sample precedent <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=20212\">HERE<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>In association with the above, review and contribute to the ongoing streamlining of the IHBC\u2019s Affiliate membership application forms, systems and interfaces, as outlined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/join\/catagories\/index.html\">HERE<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Identify opportunities and partnerships that build on existing Education Committee-linked programmes.<\/li>\n<li>Promote <a href=\"#IHBC25\">#IHBC25<\/a> across all the above<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>General:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Liaise on specific and relevant conservation education, training and standards issues with national regulatory and other lead bodies with heritage roles<\/li>\n<li>Liaise and inform Branch support as required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Your personal specifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A genuine and personal enthusiasm for built and historic environment conservation and especially for developing inspiring conservation training and CPD.<\/li>\n<li>A pro-active networker all aspects of the delivery of training and support.<\/li>\n<li>Possess a good knowledge and understanding of the functions and operations of the IHBC \u2013 local, regional and\/or national &#8211; and of the historic environment sector, to ensure a timely assimilation into the role.<\/li>\n<li>Dynamic, independent and innovative, in particular in your forward planning and use of time and resources<\/li>\n<li>Independent and self-motivated while keeping all appraised of your progress and initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Effective communicator.<\/li>\n<li>Hard working and adaptable by nature.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in relevant aspects of learning, training and\/or education would be an advantage, including the public sector, while the successful candidate will be willing and able to develop skills, enhance knowledge and guide experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualities you will need to demonstrate (essential):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Appreciative of conservation practice and values.<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of conservation-related practice, standards and training, ideally as an accredited (Full or Associate) Member of the IHBC.<\/li>\n<li>Energetic, self-motivated and capable of operating independently and with limited supervision.<\/li>\n<li>Able to deliver and demonstrate effective outcomes, and analyse accordingly.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of developing and managing training.<\/li>\n<li>Enthusiastic about both traditional and innovative practices in conservation education and training.<\/li>\n<li>Capacity to work closely with volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication skills (including digital) combined with the ability to develop and maintain excellent and effective relationships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualities that will help in the post (recommended):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A basic level of proficiency in MS Office Suite is expected, and the aptitude for potential use of other pieces of software.<\/li>\n<li>Awareness &amp;
