On Monday afternoon, it was confirmed that Rt Hon. Liz Truss MP received the highest proportion of votes from Conservative party members voting in the leadership ballot and became the party\u2019s leader.<\/p>\n

Truss has now taken over the role of prime minister from Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP, who formally handed his resignation to the Queen on Tuesday afternoon. Some useful insight into this process has been published in the House of Commons Library<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Liz Truss is the MP for South-West Norfolk, first elected in 2010. As Prime Minister, she intends to pursue three early priorities: Getting Britain working again; the energy crisis; and the NHS. Her first statement as Prime Minister has been published on Gov.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Changes in Cabinet<\/h2>\n
