Many of the buildings have committed community groups rallying behind them, but funding can be difficult to secure. The Top Ten campaign is a way for local authorities and private investors to recognise the potential of these buildings and take steps to secure and revitalise them before it’s too late.’

The Victorian Society writes:

The Victorian Society’s annual Top 10 Endangered Buildings campaign puts a spotlight on England and Wales’s most dilapidated and neglected buildings or structures. This publicity is vital in saving buildings that would otherwise lie forgotten and decaying. This is a fantastic chance to get involved with the fight to save our heritage. Previous entries range from water towers and cranes to stately homes and churches…

Nominated buildings or structures must be in England or Wales and built between 1837 and 1914. To nominate email media@victoriansociety.org.uk with the building’s name/location, the year it was built, brief description of its history and/or architecture, why you think it should be in the Top 10 i.e. the threat it is under, and ideally at least one good photo.

The deadline for nominations is Tuesday the 30th of August. It is not a voting system – as such there is no benefit to a building being nominated more than once. The final Top 10 list will be announced later this year.

See last year’s Top Ten here: Top Ten 2021

The IHBC has welcomed the launch of the Victorian Society’s nominations for its annual Top 10 Endangered Buildings campaign. image: Victorian Society

[1

post-33704","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-ihbc-newsblog
["GET
