{"id":337,"date":"2009-04-01T18:33:16","date_gmt":"2009-04-01T18:33:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=337"},"modified":"2010-03-22T18:33:45","modified_gmt":"2010-03-22T18:33:45","slug":"hs-spotlights-scotland%e2%80%99s-cinemas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=337","title":{"rendered":"HS spotlights Scotland\u2019s cinemas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The rich  variety of Scotland\u2019s historic cinemas is celebrated in a new book,  Spotlight on Scotland\u2019s Cinemas. \u00a0Historic Scotland, working with the  Cinema Theatre Association, has looked at how the outstanding buildings  where audiences have basked in the glow of the silver screen have  evolved and survived. \u00a0Marking the launch and celebrating the iconic  Cameo Cinema\u2019s 60th anniversary (and 95 years since it first opened as a  cinema) Culture Minister Michael Russell said: \u201cThe Cameo is a great  example of a cinema that holds a place in people\u2019s hearts as an  Edinburgh landmark and cinematic institution. Spotlight on Scotland\u2019s  Cinema\u2019s is the result of Historic Scotland\u2019s survey of our country\u2019s  cinema building and from the number of people who contributed their  knowledge and enthusiasm to the publication &#8211; not least the Cinema  Theatre Association &#8211; it is clear that the pictures remain a wonderful  part of our heritage and hold cherished memories for so many of us. \u00a0As a  result of the resurvey by Historic Scotland more cinemas are now  protected by listing and the statutory descriptions have been updated.
