{"id":33433,"date":"2022-05-27T16:45:20","date_gmt":"2022-05-27T15:45:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=33433"},"modified":"2022-05-27T16:45:20","modified_gmt":"2022-05-27T15:45:20","slug":"historic-england-launches-interactive-story-map-for-schools-to-celebrate-the-queens-jubilee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=33433","title":{"rendered":"Historic England Launches Interactive Story Map for Schools to Celebrate the Queen\u2019s Jubilee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-33434\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/HE_270522.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"177\" \/>Historic England has launched an interactive education tool displaying images of the Queen visiting key heritage sites across England.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 huge variety of heritage sites the Queen has visited both during and prior to her reign\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Historic England writes:<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 The <a href=\"https:\/\/historicengland.org.uk\/services-skills\/education\/teaching-activities\/platinum-jubilee\/\">story map resource<\/a> has been created by Historic England\u2019s Heritage Schools team to celebrate the Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee and will help school children learn about some of the significant places she has visited in their area of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Funded by the Department for Education and run by Historic England, the Heritage Schools programme aims to help school children learn about their local heritage and its significance.<\/p>\n<p>From opening important civic buildings like town halls and schools to visiting museums, sports grounds, and pubs, the map shows the huge variety of heritage sites the Queen has visited both during and prior to her reign. The story map not only teaches children about the Queen\u2019s role as our monarch but also highlights the heritage she has visited that is right on their doorsteps\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>The story map is available to everyone via the Historic England website and features images of the Queen visiting significant buildings, places and events in every region of the country. Alongside these images, there is information about when and why the Queen visited, as well as a brief history of the site itself.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the buildings are listed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/historicengland.org.uk\/listing\/the-list\/\">National Heritage List for England (NHLE)<\/a>, and children and the public can take part in the Platinum Jubilee commemoration, and make history, by contributing their own images, drawings or information about the building to the NHLE through Historic England\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/historicengland.org.uk\/services-skills\/education\/teaching-activities\/how-you-can-enrich-the-list\/\">Enriching the List<\/a> project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis interactive map shows the incredible variety of sites the Queen has visited in the past 70 years.
