The IHBC has issued a newly reduced and more accessible Affiliate Application Form to help those current Affiliates successfully applying before 31 March to retain their \u2018Affiliate\u2019 membership category title, with assessment results due from April on.<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n
David McDonald said: ‘I am pleased to see that the new guidance and application form for Affiliate Membership is now issued.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018These provide a clear explanation of the process and show the applicant how to organise their statements in a concise and efficient manner. I look forward to seeing many new applications over the next few months’.<\/p>\n
IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018We\u2019ve responded to concerns often focussed on the apparent scale of the submission required for the new Affiliate category, typically tied to maximum word counts.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018We appreciate that, compared to simply paying up to become an Affiliate, this is a step change for applicants.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018However with the new Affiliate category there will be a base-line level of IHBC quality assurance through assessment.\u00a0 As such this new Affiliate category will offer both a credible stepping stone for career progress, as well as appropriate standard for those seeking future conservation accreditation by an appropriate and substantial professional body\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u2018Our new form is still based on our standard accreditation forms, and still aligns to the IHBC\u2019s core principles of multidisciplinary conservation accreditation.\u00a0 As such making the application for Affiliate now also serves as a learning opportunity in itself.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018Of course current Affiliates can still retain the IHBC\u2019s same high level of service, benefits and network access that they currently enjoy, and at the same cost too, without bothering with assessment processes.\u00a0 From April we will simply re-classify you under the new \u2018Supporter\u2019 category – replacing the old \u2018Affiliate\u2019 title – but nothing else will change.\u2019<\/p>\n
