{"id":32524,"date":"2022-02-15T17:37:09","date_gmt":"2022-02-15T17:37:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=32524"},"modified":"2022-02-15T17:37:09","modified_gmt":"2022-02-15T17:37:09","slug":"44-million-dormant-assets-funding-unlocked-for-charities-and-social-enterprises","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=32524","title":{"rendered":"\u00a344 million Dormant Assets funding unlocked for charities and social enterprises"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-23472\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/pound_sign_red-201x300.png\" alt=\"pound sign\" width=\"80\" height=\"120\" \/>An additional \u00a344 million allocated to \u2018Communities and good causes across England\u2019 through the Dormant Assets Scheme takes the total to almost \u00a3850 million over the past decade.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 provide urgently-needed finance for up to 1,000 charities and social enterprises\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>GOV.UK writes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Funding will help tackle youth unemployment, support communities in deprived areas and give people in need access to finance<\/li>\n<li>New Government Bill could unlock further \u00a3880 million for good causes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Communities and good causes across England have been allocated an additional \u00a344 million through the Dormant Assets Scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The funding will be used to tackle youth unemployment, expand access to investment for charities and social enterprises, and help improve the availability of fair, affordable loans to people in vulnerable circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>The Dormant Assets Scheme releases funds from dormant bank and building society accounts, which are accounts that have been open for 15 years, but during that period no transactions have been carried out.<\/p>\n<p>The \u00a344 million funding will be distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund, as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a320 million will enable Youth Futures Foundation to test and evidence the best approaches to breaking down barriers and improving access to employment for disadvantaged young people<\/li>\n<li>\u00a320 million will go to Access &#8211; The Foundation for Social Investment, to provide urgently-needed finance for up to 1,000 charities and social enterprises, particularly in more deprived areas<\/li>\n<li>\u00a34 million will allow Fair4All Finance to accelerate their work on affordable consolidation loans for people in financially vulnerable circumstances<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More than \u00a3800 million has been unlocked by the Dormant Assets Scheme over the last decade, including \u00a3150 million that supported the response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Nigel Huddleston, Minister for Sport, Tourism, Civil Society and Youth, said:<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">&#8220;This latest \u00a344 million allocation from the Dormant Assets Scheme will make a real difference to people\u2019s lives in communities across England. As well as helping young people find jobs, it will also provide financial support to those that need it the most.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">&#8220;And we will not stop here.
