Open Government Licence v3.0<\/em><\/h6>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 removal of VAT on all domestic renewables and energy efficiency measures for 10 years was supported\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p><em>Energy Live News<\/em> writes:<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 77% of MPs believe that small-scale renewables, such as solar PV, solar thermal and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energylivenews.com\/2021\/09\/08\/government-installs-nearly-6-of-the-heat-pumps-needed-for-net-zero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">heat pumps,<\/a>\u00a0should be incorporated into all new build properties from 2022.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s according to a new YouGov survey commissioned by the MCS Charitable Foundation which suggests that more than half of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energylivenews.com\/2021\/10\/26\/none-of-the-cabinet-ministers-have-installed-heat-pumps-in-their-homes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MPs<\/a>\u00a0agree that green energy retrofits should be put on the top of the government\u2019s list of priorities.<\/p>\n<p>The removal of VAT on all domestic renewables and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energylivenews.com\/2021\/11\/18\/iea-the-pace-of-global-energy-efficiency-not-quick-enough-to-meet-climate-goals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">energy efficiency<\/a>\u00a0measures for 10 years was supported by almost 46% of MPs.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the poll also shows that less than half of MPs believe the government is providing sufficient support to bring renewable energy technologies to more homes.<\/p>\n<p>David Cowdrey, Director of External Affairs at MCS, said:\u00a0\u201cIf the government is serious about meeting emissions reduction targets, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energylivenews.com\/2021\/11\/12\/energy-uks-chief-private-sector-is-moving-faster-than-government-on-decarbonisation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">decarbonisation<\/a>\u00a0of our current and future homes must urgently move up the political agenda, backed by robust legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energylivenews.com\/2021\/11\/15\/cop26-announced-glasgow-climate-pact-as-alok-sharma-said-i-am-deeply-sorry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COP26<\/a>, home decarbonisation should be a top government priority&#8230;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A government spokesperson said: \u201cDecarbonising homes is a top priority for this government and we have a comprehensive action plan in place to drive down emissions&#8230;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.energylivenews.com\/2021\/11\/29\/mps-require-all-new-buildings-to-have-renewables-from-next-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read more&#8230;.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Almost half of MPs approve the removal of VAT on all domestic renewables and energy efficiency measures for 10 years, a new survey shows. image: for illustrations purposes only &#8211;
