{"id":31794,"date":"2021-11-16T16:12:08","date_gmt":"2021-11-16T16:12:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=31794"},"modified":"2021-11-15T17:16:55","modified_gmt":"2021-11-15T17:16:55","slug":"ihbc-responds-to-call-for-evidence-review-of-architectural-regulation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=31794","title":{"rendered":"IHBC responds to Call for Evidence &#8211; Review of Architectural Regulation"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-30442\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/IHBC_Consultations-300x48.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"48\" \/>The IHBC has submitted its response on the government\u2019s \u2018Call for Evidence Review of Architectural Regulation\u2019, highlighting that \u2018the main issue for bodies such as IHBC was the lack of inclusivity in the fact finding process.\u2019<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Responding to the consultation by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities the IHBC called for greater knowledge and understanding of historic building conservation in architectural training at all levels.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">&#8230;lack of inclusivity in the fact finding process&#8230;.<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Whilst many useful issues may be addressed by the review the main issue for bodies such as IHBC was the lack of inclusivity in the fact finding process.<\/p>\n<p>The IHBC writes: \u2018We are concerned that the nature of this consultation is primarily directed at architects.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The detailed questions about skills and knowledge are only accessible to architects.\u00a0 The issues the review considers should be addressed by other built environment professionals to give a full picture of the current situation from all perspectives, not just that of architects.\u00a0 Without that evidence, or the perspective this gives, the review cannot produce meaningful and useful reform.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>See the response <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.org.uk\/consultations\/docs\/PDF\/Call%20for%20Evidence%20-%20Review%20of%20Architectural%20Regulation.pdf\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.org.uk\/resources_head\/consultations\/index.html\">For current relevant consultations that the IHBC is aware of and for past consultation responses.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Consultations Panel<br \/>\n<\/strong>The IHBC constantly monitors Government Departments and other national and regional organisations for relevant proposed changes to legislation, policy and guidance.
