Open Government Licence v3.0<\/em><\/h6>\n<h3><!--more--><\/h3>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">&#8230;organisations will collaborate in creating industry best-practice guidance&#8230;<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>pbctoday writes:<\/p>\n<p>To mark World Anti-Slavery Day 2021 (18 October),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.balfourbeatty.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Balfour Beatty<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kier.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kier<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.morgansindall.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Morgan Sindall<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.willmottdixon.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Willmott Dixon<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macegroup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mace<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.johnsiskandson.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sisk<\/a>\u00a0 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mclh.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">McLaughlin &amp; Harvey<\/a>\u00a0have all pledged to increase their efforts to tackle unethical supply chain practices and boost employment opportunities for survivors of modern slavery.<\/p>\n<p>The pledges will see independent 24\/7\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/construction-modern-slavery-2\/98300\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">modern slavery<\/a>\u00a0helplines established across SCAPE projects to support victims and whistle-blowers in reporting concerns or incidences.<\/p>\n<p>The Ethical Labour working group operated under the advice of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.achilles.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ACHILLES<\/a>\u00a0and Mark Heath of Mercaston Solutions on modern slavery and a former deputy director at the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority.<\/p>\n<p>The firms involved will also increase their engagement with social enterprises who support survivors of modern slavery through SCAPE\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/social-supply-chain-platform\/99795\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Social Partnership Portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Ethical Labour Working Group founded by these organisations will collaborate in creating industry best-practice guidance in relation to workforce engagement and labour audits.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/modern-slavery-construction-2\/100508\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read more&#8230;.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seven contractors have joined forces with SCAPE to reaffirm their commitment to eradicating modern slavery in the construction industry. image: for illustration purposes only &#8211;
