{"id":31301,"date":"2021-09-28T18:01:41","date_gmt":"2021-09-28T17:01:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=31301"},"modified":"2021-09-28T18:01:41","modified_gmt":"2021-09-28T17:01:41","slug":"ihbcs-latest-membership-matters-update-out-now-on-plans-and-achievements-looking-back-on-2020-and-ahead-to-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=31301","title":{"rendered":"IHBC\u2019s latest \u2018Membership Matters\u2019 update out now \u2013 On plans and achievements, looking back on 2020, and ahead to 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-27894\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/MembershipMatters_icon-300x106.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"106\" \/>IHBC\u2019s latest issue of <em>Membership Matters<\/em> update from the IHBC\u2019s Board and National Office outlines support for the pandemic recovery across our Branch and voluntary network and how we plan to test the infrastructure for our new governance.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 the IHBC has been planning arrangements for support to help volunteers and Branches move beyond the pandemic, as well as for the full implementation of the Articles\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>The IHBC writes in Issue 40:<\/p>\n<p>The IHBC\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/page55\/eletters\/index.html\">&#8216;Membership Matters\u2019<\/a> <\/em>circular updates members on recent work of the IHBC\u2019s Board of Trustees and Directors, while this issue covers the period from February to September 2021.<\/p>\n<p><em>Membership Matters<\/em> provides member-focussed context to developments often already announced, and with more detail, on our <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/\">NewsBlog<\/a> news service.<\/p>\n<p>The delay is a consequence both of the pandemic and our need to devise the next stage of our governance planning under new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/governance\/index.html\">Articles of Association<\/a> while also responding to our updated <em>Corporate Plan<\/em> for 2020-25 (\u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.org.uk\/resources\/IHBC-Corporate-Plan-2020-25.pdf\">CP25<\/a><u>\u2019<\/u>).<\/p>\n<h2>Board: Outline activities<\/h2>\n<p>\u2026 Over the period we have had four board meetings (February, April, June and September); hosted both a <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=29563\">General Meeting<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=29530\">Council<\/a>; held the hugely successful <a href=\"https:\/\/brighton2021.ihbc.org.uk\/\">2021 Annual School<\/a> \u2013 including the innovative CPD-led <a href=\"https:\/\/marketplace.ihbc.org.uk\/\">Heritage MarketPlace<\/a> \u2013 and initiated the <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=28676\">first session of the first Inquiry<\/a><u> by the <\/u><a href=\"https:\/\/conservationplacespeople.appg.info\/\">Conservation, Places and People<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/about\/mps-and-lords\/members\/apg\/\">All Party Parliamentary Group<\/a> (\u2018CPPAPPG\u2019), while also seeing an incoming new Chair.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/members.parliament.uk\/member\/4843\/contact%20\">James Grundy MP<\/a> has happily agreed to follow the remarkable Layla Moran in that role.\u00a0 Layla, the APPG\u2019s first Chair, has had to step down due to capacity, including responsibility for the <a href=\"https:\/\/appgcoronavirus.marchforchange.uk\/\">Coronavirus APPG<\/a>!\u00a0 James is a new MP, both passionately and sensibly enthusiastic about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jamesgrundy.org.uk\/news\/government-heritage-package-benefits-leigh-building-preservation-trust\">diverse values in our historic places<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside all that, the IHBC has been planning arrangements for support to help volunteers and Branches move beyond the pandemic, as well as for the full implementation of the Articles, which we are finally ready to announce.\u00a0 We have also announced our primary preliminary engagement with <a href=\"https:\/\/ukcop26.org\/%20\">COP26<\/a>, from 31 October to 12 November, in the form of an IHBC@COP26 built and historic environment <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbcatcop26.ihbc.org.uk\/%20\">\u2018Conservation Helpdesk+\u2019<\/a>, in line with our message to the COP: \u2018<em>Conserving our Places Conserves our Planet<\/em>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Understandably, with our ordinary operations continuing alongside that recent rollercoaster of activity \u2013 ranging from financial oversight advised by the Finance Working, the regular <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/cont_arch\/\"><em>Contexts<\/em><\/a> and our new <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=26320\">sustainability position statement<\/a> to our <a href=\"https:\/\/marketplace.ihbc.org.uk\/stallholderlisting\/\">partner outreach<\/a>(including a <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=30364\">new award with the SAHGB<\/a>), <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/\">NewsBlog services<\/a>, and member <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/\">support and advocacy<\/a> &#8211;
