{"id":3097,"date":"2011-08-24T19:00:58","date_gmt":"2011-08-24T19:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=3097"},"modified":"2011-08-24T19:00:58","modified_gmt":"2011-08-24T19:00:58","slug":"hlf%e2%80%99s-18-3m-for-beautiful-british-views","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=3097","title":{"rendered":"HLF\u2019s \u00a318.3m for Beautiful British views"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"yui_3_2_0_5_1314200223353430\"><strong id=\"yui_3_2_0_5_1314200223353424\"><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Eleven conservation projects have passed first round of Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) programme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Morecambe Bay, the Glens of Antrim and the Lomond Hills are among spectacular UK landscapes earmarked for financial support.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hlf.org.uk\/Pages\/Home.aspx\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Heritage Lottery Fund<\/a> (HLF)\u00a0announced\u00a0that \u00a318.3 million has been set aside for the schemes through its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hlf.org.uk\/HowToApply\/programmes\/Pages\/landscapepartnerships.aspx\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Landscape Partnerships programme<\/a>.\u00a0 The 11 applicants who have passed the first stage of the process will now have to submit a more detailed proposal to secure the funding.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The investment, which is set to attract a further \u00a38.1 million of match funding from other sources, will enable the conservation of distinctive landscapes and provide other benefits such as apprenticeships for disadvantaged young people and courses on traditional rural practices such as drystone walling.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dame Jenny Abramsky, Chair of HLF, said: \u2018Landscapes speak to the heart, inspiring people in all sorts of ways: be it poetry-writing, architectural design or even just the pleasure of looking at a beautiful view.
