\"\"<\/a>The IHBC has welcomed the publication of the report carried out by Matthew Saunders for Historic England (HE), principally concerning \u2018\u2026a national re-survey involving additions to the total, and a revisit of the \u2018minimalist\u2019 lists compiled before 2005, to ensure that they match the standard of present Listings\u2019.<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

IHBC Chair David McDonald said: \u2018I am sure that like me, many in the historic environment sector will welcome this long awaited report.\u00a0 As would be expected from its author Matthew Saunders, past Director of the national amenity body, the Ancient Monuments Society, it is well-researched and makes a number of sound recommendations.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2026 \u2018there are omissions in the listing of nineteenth and early twentieth century buildings\u2019\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n

\u2018I particularly agree with his conclusion that there are omissions in the listing of nineteenth and early twentieth century buildings, and that it would be beneficial to up-date the older \u2018minimalist\u2019 list descriptions.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Interim protection, as recently introduced in Wales would be a real benefit too.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018I hope that Government and Historic England will rise to the challenge by addressing the report’s recommendations and, importantly, provide sufficient resources to ensure its implementation.\u00a0 In any case the IHBC will do all it reasonably can to help in these matters.\u2019<\/p>\n
