{"id":3031,"date":"2011-08-10T10:51:56","date_gmt":"2011-08-10T10:51:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=3031"},"modified":"2011-08-10T10:51:56","modified_gmt":"2011-08-10T10:51:56","slug":"england%e2%80%99s-regeneration-back-on-track","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=3031","title":{"rendered":"England\u2019s regeneration back on track"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_2_0_5_1312972354006149\"><span id=\"yui_3_2_0_5_1312972354006143\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Action by the Government has restored the flow of regeneration funding from the European Union after a period of interruption caused by irregularities in projects, Communities Secretary Eric Pickles has announced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The European Commission has confirmed it is lifting an interruption to payments of European Regional Development Funding (ERDF) in England following the implementation of a new regime of tighter controls on projects. The lifting of the interruption gives the Government a clean bill of health over its plans to tighten the administration of European funding programmes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Commission temporarily interrupted the payment of funds after an annual audit found a number of irregularities in projects.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Commission has welcomed new measures taken by the Government to standardise monitoring systems and introduce a strict programme of enhanced checks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Administration of European Regional Development Funding had been the responsibility of Regional Development Agencies.
