{"id":29828,"date":"2021-04-27T17:01:28","date_gmt":"2021-04-27T16:01:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=29828"},"modified":"2021-04-27T17:01:28","modified_gmt":"2021-04-27T16:01:28","slug":"ihbc-research-signpost-rtpi-research-awards-2021-open-for-entries-to-17-05","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=29828","title":{"rendered":"IHBC Research Signpost: RTPI Research Awards 2021 open for entries to 17\/05"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/RTPI_ResearchExcellence_270421.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-29829\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/RTPI_ResearchExcellence_270421-300x240.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a>Entries are open now for this year\u2019s Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Research Excellence &#8211; which \u2018promote planning research from RTPI-accredited planning schools and RTPI members\u2019 &#8211; and close on 17 May.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 All RTPI members can apply\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 innovative planning research will have a vital role\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>RTPI writes:<\/p>\n<p>These prestigious annual awards reward and promote planning research from RTPI-accredited planning schools and RTPI members from the UK and around the world.<\/p>\n<p>There are four award categories this year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sir Peter Hall Award for Excellence in Research and Engagement<\/li>\n<li>Student Award<\/li>\n<li>Early Career Researcher Award<\/li>\n<li>Planning Practitioner Award<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This year also sees the return of the biennial\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtpi.org.uk\/events-training-and-awards\/awards\/rtpi-awards-for-research-excellence-2021\/practitioner-research-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Practitioner Research Fund<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; two grants of \u00a35,000 to enable planning practitioners to conduct new research over the next 12 months. All RTPI members can apply, except those employed by, enrolled at, or affiliated to, an academic institution at the time of submission.<\/p>\n<p>RTPI President Wei Yang FRTPI said: \u201cThe RTPI continues to play an active part in recognising thought leadership in planning and is at the forefront of encouraging and promoting potentially game-changing planning research.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the pandemic bringing into sharp relief the urgent challenges facing our communities, I believe that the RTPI Awards for Research Excellence are more important now than ever before. There is no doubt that innovative planning research will have a vital role to play in shaping a sustainable future for our urban and rural environments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtpi.org.uk\/events-training-and-awards\/awards\/rtpi-awards-for-research-excellence-2021\/judges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">judges<\/a>\u00a0who each year volunteer their time to read and judge the submitted entries based on their extensive expertise.
