AJ<\/em> reports:<\/p>\n

High Speed 2\u2019s (HS2) Independent Design Panel has supported changes at Euston Station which would see plans for the Grimshaw-designed terminus scaled back….<\/p>\n

Plans for the reduction in size first emerged last year when Transport for London (TfL) revealed it had formally ordered a redesign following recommendations made in the Oakervee review.<\/p>\n

While the station itself will be shrunk \u2013 with the number of platforms dropping from 11 to 10 \u2013 HS2 has been told to increase its oversite development plans. It is also thought the redevelopment could also be delivered in a single stage rather than the previously proposed two-phase design.<\/p>\n

…. \u2018The panel welcomes this change in the governance of plans for Euston, as a means of maximising public benefits, including the regeneration of the area, from the public\u2019s investment…..<\/p>\n

\u2026 Meanwhile, separately, HS2\u2019s independent design panel has begun a search for 15 new members to refresh its thinking and make it more representative of the UK population.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview<\/a> with the AJ, Morgan said: \u2018We\u2019ve been going for five years and haven\u2019t had a big refresh since we started. We want to increase the diversity of the panel and also encourage people who wouldn\u2019t necessarily be involved in big infrastructure projects to get involved and act as a critical friend [to HS2]….<\/p>\n
