with more than 70 homes, have finally been submitted to the New Forest National Park Authority (NPA) &#8211; a year after the original proposals were unveiled, reports <em>The Daily Echo.<\/em><\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 planning to retain the hotel&#8217;s historic facade, which was remodelled by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 revised scheme has now been submitted\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p><em>The Daily Echo<\/em> writes:<\/p>\n<p>The Hoburne Group is seeking consent to demolish most of the derelict Lyndhurst Park Hotel, which closed in 2014 with the loss of 20 jobs.<\/p>\n<div id=\"subscription-content\">\n<p>Hoburne wants to build 79 apartments and three commercial units on the site.<\/p>\n<p>But the company is planning to retain the hotel&#8217;s historic facade, which was remodelled by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and will be converted into seven of the homes.<\/p>\n<p>Conan Doyle, creator of the famous Sherlock Holmes, lived in nearby Brook and was a frequent visitor to Lyndhurst&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Hoburne&#8217;s original proposal to build 77 homes, eight holiday apartments and five shops on the site was due to have been submitted last spring, but the move was delayed by the start of the Covid crisis.<\/p>\n<p>A revised scheme has now been submitted to the\u00a0<a class=\"section-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyecho.co.uk\/news\/district\/newforest\/\">New Forest<\/a>\u00a0National Park Authority (NPA).<\/p>\n<p>A design and access statement that forms part of the application says:<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;.&#8221;The historic elements of the former hotel would be retained and reinstated to their former glory, leading to considerable enhancements to the site.&#8221;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;The site had a troubled planning history before being bought by Hoburne.<\/p>\n<p>An application by PegasusLife to replace the hotel with 74 sheltered apartments and a dozen holiday homes was rejected by the NPA.<\/p>\n<p>A subsequent proposal for 75 flats and 15 affordable homes was also turned down after sparking 800 objections.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyecho.co.uk\/news\/19062750.hoburne-submits-plan-transform-lyndhurst-park-hotel-site\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read more&#8230;.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Plans to replace a historic Hampshire hotel \u2013 boasting a facade remodelled by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle &#8211;
