But that did not dilute the quality of the submissions. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk\/planning\/built-heritage\/aberdeenshire-design-awards\/the-judging-panel\/\">judging panel<\/a> were presented with a range of exciting projects which stimulated thought provoking discussion and really demonstrated the very best in architecture and landscape design across Aberdeenshire&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>A huge congratulations to all the 2020 finalists and award-winning projects&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ian Shepherd Award winner<br \/>\n<\/strong>Find out more about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk\/planning\/built-heritage\/aberdeenshire-design-awards\/conservation-and-building-adaption\/the-fife-arms-hotel\/\">Fife Arms Hotel<\/a> project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conservation and building adaption<br \/>\n<\/strong>The scheme must either demonstrate exceptional standards in the field of conservation or deliver an appropriate new use for a previously underutilised structure. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk\/planning\/built-heritage\/aberdeenshire-design-awards\/design-awards-category-3\/\">View the conservation and building adaption category<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Innovative single house design (including extensions)<br \/>\n<\/strong>This category focuses on individual properties and extensions. The scheme must demonstrate the very best in construction, layout, siting and design. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk\/planning\/built-heritage\/aberdeenshire-design-awards\/innovative-single-house-design\/\">View the innovative single house design category<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Landscape design<br \/>\n<\/strong>Entries must demonstrate excellence in the design and formation of community open space, parks, gardens or other green infrastructure projects. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk\/planning\/built-heritage\/aberdeenshire-design-awards\/design-awards-category-7\/\">View the landscape design category<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Future proof living (student only category)<br \/>\n<\/strong>This conceptual design award category focuses on innovative solutions to address the specific needs of an ageing population. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk\/planning\/built-heritage\/aberdeenshire-design-awards\/design-awards-category-2\/\">View the future proof living category<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Building communities for the future<br \/>\n<\/strong>This category focuses on residential developments. The scheme will not only deliver well designed and attractive housing, but also demonstrate how a considered layout can create communities. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk\/planning\/built-heritage\/aberdeenshire-design-awards\/building-communities-for-the-future\/\">View the building communities for the future category<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Business enterprise<br \/>\n<\/strong>This category focuses on commercial or community development.
