the Planning Officer \u2013 Conservation at Oldham; Dorset\u2019s call for a Conservation and Design Officer, and Guildford\u2019s less familiar use of it as a qualifier to a more mainstream planning post: \u2018Policy Officer \u2013 Conservation\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Unsurprisingly these jobs are from the public sector, and continue to show that the classic interdisciplinary Conservation Officer-style roles loom as large as ever, and so continue the demand for skills reaching right across the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/learning\/applicant_guidance\/index.html\">IHBC Areas of Competence<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 project-linked roles also remain important\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>As we see so regularly these days too, project-linked roles also remain important \u2013 understandably in a time of restricted finance and a pandemic-heightened focus on outcomes supported by more interventionist approaches.\u00a0 Such, for example, are the Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) Project Officers sought for Lancaster City and at \u2018King\u2019s Lynn &amp; West Norfolk.<\/p>\n<p>Softer connections to core conservation skills sets \u2013 and no less important in securing sustainable conservation outcomes \u2013 can be appreciated in the RPS call for an \u2018Associate Director \u2013 Heritage Planning\u2019, at Swansea Council\u2019s \u2018Senior Placemaking and Heritage Officer\u2019, and Liverpool\u2019s call for an Urban Design Officer.\u00a0 This last is a promotion that is not common on our <em>Jobs<\/em> <em>etc<\/em>. service, but clearly its presence there acknowledge the unique multidisciplinary practice principles that tie the two areas so closely together, as well as the great value and reach it offers.<\/p>\n<p>Two other posts deserve mention for the way they build on this same recognition of our combination of reach and value. Covent Garden Area Trust\u2019s call for a part-time Planning &amp; Heritage Consultant, which represents well both the flexibility needed in such roles (especially in our heritage thread of the construction sector that is so consistently under-valued and irregularly populated.\u00a0 Kay Pilsbury Thomas Architects\u2019 call for an Architect or Architectural Technologist\/Technician also recognises the potential reach of the service across practice levels and areas.<\/p>\n<p>And three other posts deserve special mention for the way they build on this same recognition of our combination of reach and value.
