{"id":2954,"date":"2011-07-20T10:13:13","date_gmt":"2011-07-20T10:13:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=2954"},"modified":"2011-07-20T10:13:13","modified_gmt":"2011-07-20T10:13:13","slug":"ihbc-student-award-2011-closing-date-31-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=2954","title":{"rendered":"IHBC Student Award 2011 closing date 31 July"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The closing date for the IHBC\u2019s Annual Gus Astley Student Award 2011 is 31 July, with eligible work being that submitted between August 2009 and July 2011 to a\u00a0UK\u00a0taught course, and covering any aspect of buildings or places, their history, heritage or change, or any aspect of their conservation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018As well as anticipating submissions by early career professionals on conservation courses such as those recognised by the IHBC, we encourage entry by students from across all disciplines that help shape our historic and built environment.\u00a0\u00a0And as the award is made for course work, the only extra effort for the candidate is to make the submission.\u00a0\u00a0It could not be easier!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The rewards for successful candidates are many, with cash prizes and places at our annual educational Schools among them, and encouragement and support for publication as well as high-profile presentations at key sector events.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We\u2019ve also enhanced the new web site supporting the award and applicants.\u00a0\u00a0This means that students making submissions can see how their work fits into its wider history, an aspect of their work that all good conservation professionals should consider.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The IHBC\u2019s Gus Astley Annual Student Award is given for exceptional work submitted by a student on a taught course relevant to the IHBC\u2019s areas of interest.\u00a0\u00a0A new judge is selected each year, with previous judges including Malcolm Cooper, then Chief Inspector,\u00a0Historic Scotland;
