{"id":2945,"date":"2011-07-20T10:04:59","date_gmt":"2011-07-20T10:04:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=2945"},"modified":"2011-07-20T10:04:59","modified_gmt":"2011-07-20T10:04:59","slug":"white-paper-consultation-public-services-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=2945","title":{"rendered":"White Paper consultation: public services competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">In\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a move revealed in the Government&#8217;s delayed\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u2018Open Public Services\u2019 White Paper, t<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">he coalition Government has said it will consult on how to open up local planning services so that there is more competition between providers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The initiative\u00a0is part of plans to make public services open to a range of providers so they compete to offer a better service.\u00a0Providers could be in the public, private or voluntary sectors.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The white paper, signed by prime minister David Cameron and his deputy Nick Clegg, says: \u2018This idea of devolving power and responsibility applies as much to those working in public services as it does to those using them.\u00a0\u00a0We want people to have a choice about the services they use, and the only way for that to happen is for provision to be opened up to a range of providers of different sizes and different sectors.\u00a0\u00a0If those who are already providing that service prove incapable of, or resistant to, meeting people\u2019s demands then they must allow other providers to try.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The government is consulting on the proposals until September.
