{"id":29299,"date":"2021-03-05T16:19:22","date_gmt":"2021-03-05T16:19:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=29299"},"modified":"2021-03-05T16:19:22","modified_gmt":"2021-03-05T16:19:22","slug":"new-rtpi-mentoring-programme-opens-closing-8-03","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=29299","title":{"rendered":"New RTPI mentoring programme opens: Closing 8\/03"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/RTPI_logo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-22040\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/RTPI_logo.png\" alt=\"logo\" width=\"300\" height=\"110\" \/><\/a>A pilot version of the Royal Town Planning Institute\u2019s (RTPI\u2019s) new mentoring programme, called NURTURE and providing \u2018structured, professional mentoring\u2019 for 25 of its members ; looking to advance in their career and be successful in a senior role\u2019 will close to applications on 8 March.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2026 designed specifically for RTPI Chartered Members in UK and Ireland who are at a mid-career point\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>The RTPI writes:<\/p>\n<h3>NURTURE is a pilot mentoring programme designed specifically for RTPI Chartered Members in UK and Ireland who are at a mid-career point and looking to advance in their career and be successful in a senior role.<\/h3>\n<p>The programme highlights our commitment to promoting the value of membership and professionalism \u2013 one of the four pillars from our 2020-2030\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtpi.org.uk\/press-releases\/2020\/january\/rtpi-puts-climate-action-at-heart-of-new-10-year-corporate-strategy\/\">corporate strategy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The programme includes training for both mentees and mentors, support during the programme and a commitment to six one-hour mentoring sessions between June 2021 and February 2022. The evaluation and feedback from this pilot will inform the future development of NURTURE.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are now open and the closing date is\u00a0<strong>8 March 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Women in Transport, a non-profit membership organisation, has been commissioned to design and deliver the pilot programme on behalf of the RTPI following the success of the former\u2019s Advance mentoring programme.<\/p>\n<p>Mentoring has the potential to be a powerful professional and career development tool. It is a reciprocal partnership between two people, based upon mutual trust and respect, and a learning and development opportunity for both mentors and mentees.<\/p>\n<p>Mentees might be interested to learn and gain skills in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strategic development<\/li>\n<li>Leadership<\/li>\n<li>Change management<\/li>\n<li>Business planning<\/li>\n<li>Goal setting<\/li>\n<li>Influencing others<\/li>\n<li>Motivating others<\/li>\n<li>Self-confidence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mentors can also develop learning and development opportunities of their own.
