This is a  great opportunity for me to see this process in action and to support  it.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The Annual Student Award is a key to the IHBC\u2019s support for  conservation training and development. Dr Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly, IHBC Director,  said \u2018It is a real boost to have the importance of training in the  sector recognised in Malcolm Cooper\u2019s kind agreement to serve as judge  for the 2008 awards. Students, as trainees or up-skilling professionals,  need real help to develop careers in this highly skilled sector, not  least as the recession leads to ever more losses in jobs and skills. We  couldn\u2019t hope for a stronger endorsement of all our educational efforts  here than to have Historic Scotland\u2019s Chief Inspector kindly agree to  serve as judge.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The IHBC\u2019s award is inspired by the memory of  Gus Astley, the former Membership Secretary.
