\u2026 classic interdisciplinary Conservation Officer-styled roles loom as large\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n

Jobs in the public sector show that the classic interdisciplinary Conservation Officer-styled roles loom as large as ever.\u00a0 These demand skills from right across the IHBC Areas of Competence<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 <\/em>Such posts are well represented\u00a0 by Cambridge\u2019s \u2018Senior Conservation Officer\u2019 role, and comparable posts in Bromsgrove and Redditch, Chichester, Richmond Upon Thames & Wandsworth (2) and Camden.\u2019<\/p>\n

More nuanced variations across this balance of skills are also evident across both public and private sectors.\u00a0 These include Northumberland\u2019s Built Heritage and Design Officer posts and, with a more generic range of practice areas in the private sector, Fuller Long\u2019s Heritage Director and LUC\u2019s Senior Historic Environment Consultant.<\/p>\n

As we see so regularly these days too, project-linked roles also remain important \u2013 understandably in a time of restricted finance and a pandemic-heightened focus on outcomes supported by more interventionist approaches.<\/p>\n

Though active in a more advisory capacity, the HS2 call for an \u2018Archaeology and Heritage Advisor\u2019 also operates within a major project-focused role \u2013 here as an infrastructure project \u2013 and so again indicates a need for skilled conservation practitioners to be work to the World Bank\u2019s project-based models embedded in our accreditation processes.\u00a0 In a similar vein, the Churches Conservation Trust\u2019s Find A Use Manchester Project Manager again captures the project focus, but here operating within a different, more traditional area of national infrastructure, our ecclesiastical heritage.<\/p>\n
