The work being carried out by the recipients will benefit communities across the country, with projects based in Orkney, Aberdeenshire, Dumfries and Galloway and central Scotland, among others.<\/p>\n<p>The Historic Environment Support Fund is used to support various one-off, heritage-related projects in Scotland and has been running since 2016, with \u00a3898,014 distributed since it was launched.<\/p>\n<p>Funding has been awarded to the following projects:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a334,000 to\u00a0<a title=\"About the Ridge Foundation\" href=\"https:\/\/the-ridge.org.uk\/the-ridge-foundations\/\">The Ridge Foundations CIC<\/a>\u00a0for a project to deliver traditional skills training to marginalised groups and local high school children and undertake repairs to historic environment assets within the Dunbar Conservation Area.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a323,000 to\u00a0<a title=\"About the Brisbane Observatory Trust\" href=\"http:\/\/brisbaneobservatory.scot\/\">Brisbane Observatory Trust<\/a>\u00a0for repairs to the Brisbane Observatory, which is Scotland\u2019s oldest surviving astronomical observatory. The works will safeguard the building and allow safe access to the public.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a314,375 for a project to restore and rethatch the roof of an\u00a0<a title=\"cottage entry on the Buildings at Risk Register\" href=\"https:\/\/buildingsatrisk.org.uk\/search\/keyword\/12%20Lower%20Ardelve\/event_id\/891189\/building_name\/12-lower-ardelve-dornie\">A-listed cottage in the Highlands<\/a>\u00a0which is currently on the Buildings at Risk Register. As part of the project, community outreach activity will engage the public with vernacular heritage, traditional building materials and the reuse of historic buildings.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a310,011 to\u00a0<a title=\"Children in Scotland\" href=\"https:\/\/childreninscotland.org.uk\/\">Children in Scotland<\/a>\u00a0for a project to identify how better to engage young people with the heritage sector and ensure the historic environment is inclusive and equally accessed by all.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a37,022 to the\u00a0<a title=\"RSPB website\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rspb.org.uk\/\">Royal Society for the Protection of Birds<\/a>\u00a0to conserve the Loch of Strathbeg windmill stump in Aberdeenshire and install new interpretation to encourage visitors to learn about the role that the windmill tower has played in the historic environment of the area.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a34,900 to\u00a0<a title=\"Climavore CIC entry on the Heritage Trust Network website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.heritagetrustnetwork.org.uk\/our-members\/climavore-cic\/\">Climavore CIC<\/a>\u00a0to investigate utilising natural, regenerative and sustainable coastal products found on the Isle of Skye in the application of building materials.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a34,800 to Orphir Community Council for a project to improve the audio-visual interpretation at the\u00a0<a title=\"Orkney.com\" href=\"https:\/\/www.orkney.com\/listings\/orkneyinga-saga-centre\">Orkneyinga Saga Centre<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a34,680 to\u00a0<a title=\"Govanhill Baths\" href=\"https:\/\/www.govanhillbaths.com\/\">Govanhill Baths Community Trust<\/a>\u00a0for a project to engage the local community and record their memories and stories about the Govanhill Baths in order to produce a book that will celebrate and preserve the history of one of the most cherished buildings in the south side of Glasgow.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a32,100 to the\u00a0<a title=\"D &amp; G outdoor access trust\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dgoutdooraccess.org.uk\/\">Dumfries and Galloway Outdoor Access Trust<\/a>\u00a0to install interpretation at Castle Haven Dun and establish a footpath which will connect the scheduled monument to the wider coastal path network, making it more accessible to the public.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a32,100 to the\u00a0<a title=\"D &amp;
