It was created to serve both as a memorial to Nigel\u2019s work and to encourage continuing high standards at all levels within the profession.<\/p>\n<p>The Nigel Williams Prize seeks to recognise an outstanding professional project focusing on the conservation\/restoration of ceramic, glass or a directly related material, whether interventive or preventive. Submissions are welcome from individuals or teams from the private or public sector.<\/p>\n<p>To qualify for the prize applicants should be a member of at least one of the following organisations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Institute of Conservation (Icon)<\/li>\n<li>International Institute for Conservation (IIC)<\/li>\n<li>International Council of Museums-Conservation Committee (ICOM-CC)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We welcome applications from both residents of the UK and the rest of the World. To be eligible, the project must have been completed within the three years prior to the submission deadline.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"h3-subtitle\"><strong>Judges<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A panel of three judges, drawn from both the public and private sector, will assess each submission. The panel is happy to provide feedback on all projects.<\/p>\n<p>Loretta Hogan, Ceramics and Glass Conservator at the British Museum and a former colleague of Nigel Williams, has led the Judging Panel since 2019.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"h3-subtitle\"><strong>Awards<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Main Prize<\/strong>: The winning project receives \u00a31,000 and a virtual presentation of a gilded ceramic copy of the Portland Vase (kindly donated by Wedgwood and kept at the Museum).<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Secondary Prize<\/strong>: The prize of \u00a3400 may be awarded to a close runner-up, at the judges\u2019 discretion.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Student Prize<\/strong>: \u00a3250.
