UKGBC writes:<\/p>\n

UKGBC is one of several European GBCs developing national whole life carbon roadmaps under the #BuildingLife project. The roadmaps aims to build a common vision and agreed actions\u00a0for achieving net zero carbon in the construction, operation and demolition of buildings and infrastructure<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>build<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0on the\u00a0<\/span>action pathways<\/span>\u00a0for operational energy and embodied carbon<\/span>\u00a0developed by\u00a0<\/span>WorldGBC<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and f<\/span>orm<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Whole Life Carbon Vision<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>he\u00a0<\/span>UK\u00a0<\/span>project will bring together diverse stakeholders from across the built environment sector and will consist of two main elements:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. A report setting out the industry actions, government policies and associated mechanisms and processes that will be needed to manage the net zero transition in the built environment, along with declarations of support from key organisations across the sector\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. A science-based trajectory for reducing built environment emissions in line with limiting global temperature rises below 1.5 degrees, building on the Green Construction Board\u00a0<\/span>Low Carbon\u00a0<\/span>Routemap<\/span><\/a>\u00a0which will be updated in line with the latest climate science and expanded to cover all built environment sectors<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The roadmap will cover the entire building\u00a0<\/span>life<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>cycle and include\u00a0<\/span>all<\/span>\u00a0building<\/span>\u00a0types<\/span>\u00a0as well as infrastructure.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Critically, this will be an industry-led, consensus-based process<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>developed in consultation with market stakeholders and policy makers and launched with industry, and potentially national and local Government backing<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The roadmap is\u00a0<\/span>central<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span>UKGBC<\/span>\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>COP26 advocacy\u00a0<\/span>and will be launched at the COP26 conference in Glasgow in November<\/span>\u00a02021<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
