{"id":2848,"date":"2011-06-24T09:03:36","date_gmt":"2011-06-24T09:03:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=2848"},"modified":"2011-08-23T17:32:17","modified_gmt":"2011-08-23T17:32:17","slug":"befs-congress-web-site-on-line","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=2848","title":{"rendered":"BEFS Congress web site on line"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Working to the theme \u2018Valuing places &#8211; old and new: why? what? how ?\u2019, Built Environment Forum Scotland (BEFS), the link body for Scotland\u2019s built and historic environment non-governmental bodies, has been announced as taking place on Thursday 8th September\u00a0 at the Roxburghe Hotel, Charlotte Square, Edinburgh.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">BEFS says:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Following the success of BEFS\u2019 inaugural congress last year, we are currently planning this year\u2019s congress which will address the topic VALUING PLACES.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BEFS\u2019 campaign, to put people at the heart of places \u2013 reminds us that places are for people and that to develop and manage good places, we need to understand the values that people associate with \u2018place\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Scottish Government\u2019s core purpose of achieving sustainable economic growth makes it imperative for us as practitioners to understand the economic value that good place-making can generate. Why do we need to demonstrate value? Arguably to support better decision-making, to prioritise investment and to measure successes against delivering National Performance Framework outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So how do we go about understanding, measuring and demonstrating what it is that people value about places?
