TCPA writes:<\/p>\n

Tens of thousands\u00a0of\u00a0new\u00a0homes have\u00a0legally<\/i>\u00a0bypassed the planning system\u00a0in England\u00a0since 2013,\u00a0undermining place making, local\u00a0democracy,\u00a0jobs and wellbeing.<\/p>\n

In the wake of<\/span>\u00a0the government\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>unprecedented\u00a0<\/span>expansion of permitted development right<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0(PDR)<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>which\u00a0<\/span>will\u00a0<\/span>allow\u00a0<\/span>more\u00a0<\/span>buildings<\/span>\u00a0to be converted into homes while<\/span>\u00a0bypass<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0the planning system<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>TCPA<\/span>\u00a0has launched a new report\u00a0<\/span>exploring<\/span>\u00a0the devastating impact<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0PD\u00a0<\/span>rights<\/span>\u00a0have already<\/span>\u00a0had\u00a0<\/span>on place making<\/span>\u00a0over the past seven years.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Building on previous research which\u00a0<\/span>explored<\/span>\u00a0the impact of PD on residents, this report<\/span>\u00a0f<\/span>ocuses on the wider impacts of permitted development<\/span>\u00a0on<\/span>\u00a0neighbourhoods and<\/span>\u00a0communities<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Despite r<\/span>esearch from\u00a0<\/span>Public Health England<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and other authorities\u00a0<\/span>establishing clearly<\/span>\u00a0that our neighbourhoods are crucial to communities\u2019 health and wellbeing<\/span>, the report<\/span>\u00a0finds that permitted development consistently undermines councils<\/span>\u2019<\/span>\u00a0efforts to plan for healthy and safe places.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
