{"id":2774,"date":"2011-05-25T17:15:21","date_gmt":"2011-05-25T17:15:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=2774"},"modified":"2011-05-25T17:15:21","modified_gmt":"2011-05-25T17:15:21","slug":"unofficial-nppf-launched-slammed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=2774","title":{"rendered":"Unofficial NPPF launched &#038; slammed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Practitioners Advisory Group (PAG) has published a suggested draft of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), the coalition\u2019s proposed unified planning document, while environment groups have criticized it for not being sufficiently green!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A group of four experts from planning, local government, house-building and the environmental lobby make up the PAG.\u00a0\u00a0They were invited by the Minister for Decentralisation, Rt. Hon\u00a0Greg Clark\u00a0MP, to provide a practitioners\u2019 perspective on how national planning policy could be simplified.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This document is not a statement of government policy, but it represents a major contribution to the debate as the Coalition Government prepares its own draft of the NPPF, which is due to be published for full public consultation in\u00a0July 2011.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Provision for a consolidated national planning policy framework was outlined in the Coalition Programme for Government.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Key Extracts<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The planning system must play an active role in guiding development to sustainable solutions, mitigating significant impacts and promoting positive strategies for environmental enhancement.\u2019 (Page 3)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Enabling the delivery of the homes, infrastructure and work places that the country needs in a sustainable way, is the principal function of the planning system. A positive planning system is essential because, without growth, a sustainable future cannot be achieved.\u00a0This means that the Government expects the planning system to pro-actively encourage growth to meet the needs of business; to increase the supply of housing that\u00a0the country needs; and to ensure the timely provision of necessary infrastructure.
