Craftsmanship (YFCC), the charitable arm of the YCCC, has appointed experienced paintings conservator and founding Chair of the Institute of Conservation, Carole Milner, as a trustee.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>YFCC writes:<\/p>\n<p>Born and bred in Yorkshire, Carole Milner studied Modern Languages before training as a paintings conservator and working in Naples for six years.\u00a0 Carole studied for her Master\u2019s degree and Doctorate diploma at the Sorbonne and then spent 16 years working in Paris both as a freelance conservator and as Conservator of Paintings at the Louvre Museum.<\/p>\n<p>She is former Head of Conservation &amp; Collection Care at the Museums &amp; Galleries Commission (MGC), was VSO\u2019s Head of Returned Volunteer Programmes and served as Executive Secretary for the UK National Commission for UNESCO.<\/p>\n<p>Carole led the movement to establish Icon, the Institute of Conservation, and was its founding Chair.\u00a0 She holds the Royal Warrant Holders Association Plowden Medal.\u00a0 She has wide experience of charity governance and charitable giving and, in recent years, has chaired the Heritage &amp; Craft Funders\u2019 Network, been Heritage &amp; Crafts Adviser to the Radcliffe Trust and serves as a trustee of York Glaziers Trust and Trusthouse Charitable Foundation.\u00a0 Carole also maintains an active interest in international development as an overseas Elections Observer.<\/p>\n<p>YCCC Chairman Martin Stancliffe commented: \u201c<em>We are thrilled to welcome Carole Milner as a trustee.\u00a0 She has huge experience of, and networks in, the worlds of heritage, crafts and conservation and will bring a great deal to our further development.\u00a0 Despite the setbacks that Covid-19 has brought to all of us \u2013 and the effects are very severe in heritage and conservation for obvious reasons \u2013 YCCC has been very active during the crisis.\u00a0 This year we are very proud to have awarded our 250th bursary to support the development of heritage craft and conservation skills and we have also launched a series of regular online webinars which are being watched by large numbers of people right across the globe.\u00a0 Carole\u2019s appointment underlines the importance of our charitable mission.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservationyork.org.uk\/news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read more&#8230;.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The York Foundation for Conservation &amp;
