{"id":27209,"date":"2020-08-04T16:06:20","date_gmt":"2020-08-04T15:06:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=27209"},"modified":"2020-08-03T17:58:19","modified_gmt":"2020-08-03T16:58:19","slug":"nominate-your-heritage-lockdown-legends-for-a-national-lottery-award-by-19-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=27209","title":{"rendered":"Nominate your heritage \u2018lockdown legends\u2019 for a National Lottery Award, by 19 August"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-27210\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/National_Lottery_Awards_2019_030820.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"175\" \/>The National Lottery is searching for the UK\u2019s lockdown legends as part of this year&#8217;s National Lottery Awards with nomonations closing 19 August.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Heritage Fund writes:<\/p>\n<p>This year the annual search for the UK\u2019s most popular National Lottery funded projects will, for the first time, honour individuals who have made an extraordinary impact in their community \u2013 especially those who have adapted during the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, more than ever, people have rallied together, and individuals have stepped up to the mark to carry out inspirational acts and extraordinary endeavours to help in cities, towns and villages up and down the country.\u201d [<em>said<\/em>] Jonathan Tuchner, Director of The National Lottery Promotions Unit.<\/p>\n<p>Winners will receive a \u00a33,000 cash prize for their organisation and a National Lottery Awards trophy.<\/p>\n<h2>Recognising inspirational acts<\/h2>\n<p>The National Lottery\u2019s Jonathan Tuchner is encouraging people across the UK to make their nominations. He said: \u2018Now, more than ever, people have rallied together, and individuals have stepped up to the mark to carry out inspirational acts and extraordinary endeavours to help in cities, towns and villages up and down the country.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to National Lottery players, up to \u00a3600million has been made available to support communities throughout the UK amid the coronavirus crisis. People have used National Lottery funding in amazing ways during these challenging times \u2013 we want to honour them as part of this year\u2019s National Lottery Awards.\u2019<\/p>\n<h2>How to nominate<\/h2>\n<p>Nominations can be made across seven categories, including heritage. There will be a special Young Hero Award for someone under the age of 18 who has gone the extra mile in their organisation.<\/p>\n<p>To make your nomination, tweet <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LottoGoodCauses\">@LottoGoodCauses<\/a> with your suggestions or visit the National Lottery\u2019s website.
