{"id":26962,"date":"2020-07-11T17:40:07","date_gmt":"2020-07-11T16:40:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=26962"},"modified":"2020-07-11T17:40:07","modified_gmt":"2020-07-11T16:40:07","slug":"ihbcs-virtual-school-extends-across-the-globe-very-positively-if-with-a-very-light-touch-5-continents-reach-us-and-97-would-repeat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=26962","title":{"rendered":"IHBC\u2019s Virtual School extends across the globe\u2026. very positively, if with a very light touch: 5 continents reach us, and 97% would repeat!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26963 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/VS2020_delegate_locations_globe.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"531\" height=\"304\" \/>Analysis of some of the early data coming back from the IHBC\u2019s 2020 Virtual School shows that we reached most continents \u2013 even if with some tiny numbers and including some familiar, if very welcome, faces \u2013 while overall\u00a0 feedback on the experience was very high, with 97% saying they \u2018would attend another similar IHBC event\u2019.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018We\u2019re already looking ahead to Brighton 2021 \u2013 led by our volunteers in the IHBC\u2019s host South East Branch \u2013 and absorbing the early lessons from the Virtual School.\u00a0 These are very positive, and indicate the huge potential we can tap into if we integrate virtual and live experiences effectively in 2021, while necessarily remaining responsive to any problems the pandemic might bring!\u2019<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">&#8216;&#8230;we reached most continents..&#8217;<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Interim Virtual School feedback highlights its positive reception by practitioners too.\u00a0 Some 97% say they \u2018would attend another similar IHBC event\u2019, while the huge level of sector learning we supported is clear from the &#8211; perhaps surprising but again very welcome &#8211; 14% of delegates who were attending their first webinar.\u00a0 Even better, three quarters reckoned the School comfortably addressed their CPD requirements; a triumph for a digital event constructed at such aggressively short notice, on such a new platform, and with so much competition out there from free access events.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Interim and partial feedback from participants indicates that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>97% would attend another similar IHBC event<\/li>\n<li>86% rated the School \u2018Good\u2019 or \u2018Excellent\u2019 value for money<\/li>\n<li>For 75%, the event \u2018met their own training or CPD requirements completely or sufficiently\u2019<\/li>\n<li>For 14% it was first webinar or on-line conference.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">&#8216;&#8230;three quarters reckoned the School comfortably addressed their CPD requirements&#8217;<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Also:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More than a quarter of delegates were not IHBC-members<\/li>\n<li>Top cities represented by bookings included Swindon.
