{"id":26878,"date":"2020-07-03T17:35:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-03T16:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=26878"},"modified":"2020-07-14T16:18:57","modified_gmt":"2020-07-14T15:18:57","slug":"ihbc-highlights-demand-for-hes-new-concise-guidance-on-enabling-development-gpa-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=26878","title":{"rendered":"IHBC highlights demand for HE&#8217;s new &#038; concise guidance on \u2018Enabling Development\u2026&#8217; (\u2018GPA 4\u2019)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-26879\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/HE_EnablingDev_030720.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"421\" \/>Historic England (HE) has released its new concise replacement practice guidance on \u2018<em>Enabling Development and Heritage Assets<\/em>\u2019 (GPA4), as IHBC Chair David McDonald highlights the application.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">&#8216;&#8230;long overdue and necessary to take account of evolving government policy&#8230;&#8217;<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>IHBC Chair David McDonald said: &#8216;As we are twelve years on from English Heritage&#8217;s guidance on enabling development, this new advice is long overdue and necessary to take account of evolving government policy, including the NPPF.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018With difficult economic times ahead, GPA4 will no doubt be in frequent use to help manage enabling development in the historic environment&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Roy Lewis, IHBC Policy Secretary, said: \u2018The IHBC\u2019s upcoming Policy Committee meeting will give the content the usual detailed consideration.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>HE writes:<\/p>\n<p>Historic England has\u2026 published its updated <em>Enabling Development and Heritage Assets<\/em> advice (GPA4).<\/p>\n<p>Whilst the fundamental thrust of the advice remains the same as in the previous (2008) document \u2013 now superseded \u2013 the new advice reflects the relevant policy in the National Planning Policy Framework.
