{"id":26803,"date":"2020-06-26T18:02:32","date_gmt":"2020-06-26T17:02:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=26803"},"modified":"2020-07-06T16:58:02","modified_gmt":"2020-07-06T15:58:02","slug":"ihbc-and-algaouk-sign-memorandum-of-understanding-an-mou-to-support-local-authority-historic-environment-and-conservation-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=26803","title":{"rendered":"IHBC and ALGAO:UK sign Memorandum of Understanding: An MoU to \u2018support Local Authority Historic Environment and Conservation Services\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-26804\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IHBC_ALGAO_logo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"135\" \/>Chairs of The Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) and The Association of Local Government Archaeological Officers (ALGAO):UK signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 24 June 2020, so the organisations can more effectively work together to promote and support Local Authority Historic Environment and Conservation Services.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">&#8216;ALGAO:UK and IHBC can together lead support for Local Authority Historic Environment and Conservation Services&#8217;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>With both organisations affirming their joint commitments to Local Authority services, the MoU underpins joined-up support for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working effectively to develop high quality skills and learning environments for archaeologists and conservation professionals<\/li>\n<li>Promoting good practice in Local Authority Historic Environment and Conservation Services<\/li>\n<li>Influencing legislation and policy affecting the historic environment<\/li>\n<li>Promoting advocacy for local authority historic environment and conservation services<\/li>\n<li>Securing investment in and support for areas of common interests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>David McDonald, IHBC Chair, and John Lawson, ALGAO:UK Chair, issued a joint statement saying:<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We are delighted that our complementary organisations have agreed this Memorandum of Understanding.\u00a0 It will help us build archaeology and conservation capacity across the sector, working together and with all our sector partners.\u2019<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">&#8216;importance of the task cannot be overstated&#8217;<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>\u2018The MoU recognises that ALGAO:UK and IHBC can together lead support for Local Authority Historic Environment and Conservation Services, and so help secure sustainable public interests across all our places.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The importance of the task cannot be overstated.
