{"id":2680,"date":"2011-05-04T10:03:28","date_gmt":"2011-05-04T10:03:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=2680"},"modified":"2011-05-04T10:03:28","modified_gmt":"2011-05-04T10:03:28","slug":"rics-scotland-awards-conservation-successes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=2680","title":{"rendered":"RICS Scotland Awards: conservation successes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A pick of newly built or refurbished buildings from across Scotland have received a significant plaudit thanks to winning or being commended at the RICS Scotland Awards 2011, with conservation projects rating highly across a range of categories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Prominent conservation highlights at the awards include the Hippodrome Cinema, Bo\u2019ness, which both won the Community Benefit category and received a commendation in the Building Conservation category, and Belmont House, Shetland, which won the Building Conservation category.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The competition, organised by RICS Scotland, recognises the achievements of land, property and construction professionals in four categories \u2013 Sustainability, Building Conservation, Regeneration and Community Benefit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The category winners of the RICS Scotland Awards 2011 are:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Sustainability<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Winner &#8211; John Hope Gateway Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh<\/li>\n<li>Highly commended &#8211; Kingdom House, Pittenweem<\/li>\n<li>Commended &#8211; Acharacle Primary School, Argyll,<\/li>\n<li> Commended &#8211; Buro Happold offices, Edinburgh<\/li>\n<li>Commended &#8211; Inverdee House, Aberdeen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Building Conservation<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Winner &#8211; Belmont House, Shetland<\/li>\n<li>Highly Commended &#8211; McManus Art Gallery, Dundee<\/li>\n<li>Highly Commended &#8211; Infirmary Street Baths, Edinburgh<\/li>\n<li>Commended &#8211; Hippodrome Cinema, Bo\u2019ness<\/li>\n<li>Commended &#8211; University of Edinburgh Business School, Edinburgh<\/li>\n<li>Commended &#8211; Dysart Tolbooth, Fife<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Regeneration<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Winner &#8211; Springside, Edinburgh<\/li>\n<li>Commended &#8211; Briggait, Glasgow<\/li>\n<li>Commended &#8211; Elbe Street, Edinburgh<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Community Benefit<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Winner &#8211; Hippodrome Cinema, Bo\u2019ness<\/li>\n<li>Highly Commended &#8211; Ravenscraig Sports Centre<\/li>\n<li>Highly Commended &#8211; Aberdeen Sports Facility<\/li>\n<li> Commended &#8211; Holy Rood High School, Edinburgh<\/li>\n<li>Commended &#8211; Bonhill Primary School, Vale of Leven<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Winners of the RICS Scotland Awards will be automatically entered into the RICS global award finals.
