{"id":26547,"date":"2020-06-05T17:15:01","date_gmt":"2020-06-05T16:15:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=26547"},"modified":"2020-06-05T17:15:01","modified_gmt":"2020-06-05T16:15:01","slug":"ihbcs-newest-cpd-circular-issued-includes-student-research-support-with-an-update-call-on-hempcrete-research-from-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=26547","title":{"rendered":"IHBC\u2019s newest CPD Circular issued: Includes student research support, with an update call on Hempcrete research from York"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-26549\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IHBC_logo_AOC.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"366\" height=\"140\" \/>The IHBC has issued its latest \u2018CPD Circular\u2019, with lockdown-compliant content including the IHBC\u2019s own Continuing Professional Development (CPD) support, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/learning\/cpd_providers\/index.html\">IHBC Recognised CPD Providers<\/a>\u2019 CPD, and announcing a new service to help student projects, starting in the next issue with a call from Laura Long (York), for help on \u2018hempcrete\u2019 research detailed below.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The IHBC\u2019s \u2018<em>CPD Circular<\/em>\u2019 reports:<\/p>\n<p>As part of the IHBC\u2019s commitment to providing our members and their networks with up to date information on continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities and information, this monthly service includes upcoming Branch and National Events, CPD opportunities, Awards, Placements, Bursaries &amp; Scholarships, Calls for Papers and more from across the UK and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>In this time of restricted personal interaction, we appreciate that student researchers are having a particularly difficult time getting to know professionals across the sector. \u00a0As such we are offering to include links to student research questionnaires, and we ask our network to help these students by completing those questionnaires relevant to their expertise.\u00a0 For students who wish to take advantage of this service, email your research subject, a short summary of your research aims, and a link to your questionnaire to <a href=\"mailto:services@ihbc.org.uk\">services@ihbc.org.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Use your time at home to complete your CPD with online resources such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Periodicals, such as our own member journal <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a070a4d0cff28adddef6cffe7&amp;id=3d7b76fbad&amp;e=4961664373\"><em>CONTEXT<\/em><\/a> and its <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a070a4d0cff28adddef6cffe7&amp;id=18fb132129&amp;e=4961664373\">digital archive<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a070a4d0cff28adddef6cffe7&amp;id=36cd9d0bb9&amp;e=4961664373\">NewsBlogs<\/a> which date back to <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a070a4d0cff28adddef6cffe7&amp;id=33e60dc963&amp;e=4961664373\">2007<\/a> for news from across our inter-disciplinary members\u2019 interests.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a070a4d0cff28adddef6cffe7&amp;id=6385e5f2a5&amp;e=4961664373\">IHBC\u2019s Conservation Wiki<\/a> to which contribute<\/li>\n<li>Contributing to or participate in virtual conferences and webinars such as the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a070a4d0cff28adddef6cffe7&amp;id=738aea4da8&amp;e=4961664373\">IHBC Virtual School<\/a>, and more from our CPD partners and registered <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a070a4d0cff28adddef6cffe7&amp;id=137a27a5b2&amp;e=4961664373\">CPD Providers<\/a>, including those detailed below.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Finally you can use this time to advance your IHBC membership, whether by <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a070a4d0cff28adddef6cffe7&amp;id=306537863e&amp;e=4961664373\">joining up<\/a> or tackling your <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a070a4d0cff28adddef6cffe7&amp;id=96a2b2e6ef&amp;e=4961664373\">application<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For the next <em>CPD Circular<\/em> issue, Laura Long writes:<\/p>\n<p>I am a postgraduate student at the University of York, on the [IHBC recognised] Conservation Studies (Historic Buildings) MA programme, and a student member of the IHBC. As part of my dissertation research project I am kindly asking practitioners, architects, conservation officers, and those working for UK built heritage organisations, amenity societies or government bodies involved in the conservation of historic buildings, to complete a very short (12-13 question) online survey on the use of hemp-lime mixes (hempcrete) in historic (pre-1919) buildings.<\/p>\n<p>I wondered if it would be possible for the IHBC to somehow distribute my questionnaires to its members please, for them to participate?
