{"id":26282,"date":"2020-05-12T17:11:22","date_gmt":"2020-05-12T16:11:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsblogsnew.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=26282"},"modified":"2020-05-12T17:11:22","modified_gmt":"2020-05-12T16:11:22","slug":"ihbc-launches-market-intelligence-on-englands-la-jobs-for-2019-via-the-toolbox-advertised-posts-down-30-on-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=26282","title":{"rendered":"IHBC launches \u2018Market Intelligence\u2019 on England\u2019s LA jobs for 2019, via the Toolbox: Advertised posts down 30%+ on 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-24870\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/IHBC_Toolbox_graphic.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"299\" \/>IHBC\u2019s online <a href=\"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/toolbox\/index.html\">Toolbox<\/a> practitioner resource has posted our regular update of \u2018Market Intelligence\u2019 on England\u2019s local authority (LA) conservation-related jobs, from the<a href=\"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/jobsetc\/\"> \u2018IHBC Jobs etc.\u2019 service<\/a>, confirming that for 2019 \u2018conservation posts\u2026 in England fell back\u2026 one-third\u2019, and were the lowest since 2014-15.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Bob Kindred, IHBC research consultant and Research Note author said: &#8216;This Research Note summarises the job vacancies advertised largely on the IHBC\u2019s web pages in 2019 under the section on \u2018Jobs etc\u2019.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It provides a detailed picture of long-term trends in the market including job requirements, qualifications and levels of remuneration, together with regional variations.<\/p>\n<p>IHBC Director Sean O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018IHBC Research Notes are produced as part of our integrated online support for conservation practitioners, the <a href=\"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/toolbox\/index.html\">IHBC\u2019s \u2018Toolbox\u2019<\/a>.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Our Toolbox has been developed to help inform, advise and guide anyone with specialist interests in built and historic environment conservation.\u00a0 Already it offers a wide range of basic resources \u2013 the \u2018tools\u2019 in the toolbox \u2013 from primary research and guidance produced by or on behalf of the IHBC, to practice standards and learning support.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018This Research Note highlights trends across one of the most important measures in conservation management \u2013 the state of our local authority conservation capacity.\u00a0 By advising on known knowledge gaps in policy and practice such as this, our ToolBox fulfils the role for which it was conceived and designed\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Kindred writes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Institute\u2019s data set now covers about over 1,900 posts continuously over 22 years since 1998.<\/li>\n<li>In 2019 the number of built heritage conservation posts advertised in England fell back by one-third from those seen in 2018 and was lower than at any point since 2014-15.<\/li>\n<li>It is not clear if the sector is fully recovering from the very low point of 2011 and 2012. As a consequence of the state of local government finances it is not clear if the gradually increasing trend has ceased.<\/li>\n<li>The number of posts re-advertised within six months fell sharply to five.<\/li>\n<li>The average median salary advertised for advertised posts in 2019 was \u00a333,495 a rise of 2.9% on 2018.<\/li>\n<li>It was encouraging to note that during 2019 the number of local planning authorities that had considered IHBC membership as essential or desirable for applicants had risen to 69% having fallen back in the previous two years.
